Soon after the death of the prophet （may Allah's mercy and bless be upon Him）on 632 （A.D）, the question of who should lead the muslim as king in their spiritual and mundane affairs came up. The Muhajirun （those who came from Mecca）would want the successor to the prophet to come from the Quraish, while the Ansar would also like to produce a successor.
All these rised base on their political issue not for islamic progressing.
Ansar gathered in the house of Sa'ad Bn Ubaidata to choose a successor among them. Being informed of the proceding of the Ansar （inhabitant of Madinah）, Abubakar, Umar and Abu Ubaidah hastened to the meeting place and were there just in time to interrupt the finalisation of the Ansar choice of Sa'ad Ibn Ubaidata as the successor to the prophet. All these conflict was happened while Imam Ali （A.S）was the making arrangement for the burrial of the prophet, and other Sahabas were fully engaged in their world and worldly affairs.
On reaching there, a discussion between Abubakar, Umar and other companions and the Ansar took place. The Ansar recounted their services to the prophet （S.A.W.W）and the Muhajirun. They claimed that they saved islam and established it by giving shelter and help to the prophet （S.A.W.W）and the Muhajirun at a very critical time；hence they were better intitled to the successorship of the prophet （S.A.W.W）than the Muhajirun.
At that critical time, the Ansar suggested that they would have a king and Muhajirun , a King.
Umar Bn Khaddab on his wisdom and trict asserted that Abubakar was the eldest companion of the prophet （S .A.W.W）and his close friend during migration. Having convinced the Ansar, Umar then took the hand 🤚🏼 of Abubakar and declared allegiance to him. This was followed by Abu Ubaidah 🙋🏼♂ as well as the Ansar 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 and Muhajirun 🙋🏾♀🙋🏼♂🤷🏾♂.
This was how Abubakar became the first King.
